The Wellspring Literary Series is a unique program that brings together poetry and music in an inspiring downtown setting. Featuring poetry readings accompanied by musical interludes, this event creates a space for creative expression and community engagement.
Poetry has a profound connection to mental health, offering an outlet for processing emotions such as grief and trauma. While this program is not facilitated by mental health clinicians and is not designed specifically for therapeutic purposes, many participants and attendees find that engaging with poetry can enhance mental well-being as a natural consequence.
The series showcases the work of invited poets alongside undergraduate and graduate students from Central Michigan University’s Creative Writing program, providing a platform for emerging voices in the literary arts. It highlights the power of the written and spoken word as both a form of expression and a medium for fostering deeper connections within the community.
This free event is open to the public and attracts a diverse audience, including CMU faculty, staff, students, and members of the local community. As the only program of its kind in the area, the Wellspring Literary Series enhances downtown Mount Pleasant’s cultural landscape, offering an accessible and enriching arts experience for all.
Join us to celebrate the art of poetry, connect with others, and enjoy the transformative power of creative expression.
